MPs visiting Liverpool institutions on 16th November to promote TB research

November 9th, 2018, written by Pally Khan

The co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Global Tuberculosis  and Global TB Caucus, Nick Herbert MP, and other local MPs (including Louise Ellman MP, Dan Carden MP, and Angela Eagle MP) will be visiting Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) on Friday 16th November 2018.

The visit will promote TB research and activities across Liverpool, including those in LSTM, the University of Liverpool, and the NHS.

Nick will be giving a talk about how to move forward following the recent UN High Level Meeting on TB in September 2018.  Our cross-campus collaboration, LIV-TB, will then host a poster walk-round showcasing the best of Liverpool-wide (LSTM, UoL, and NHS) TB research and activities.  Also, two people who have previously suffered with TB will attend the event. to share their experiences.  Following that, some of the MPs will have the opportunity to go and visit the regional Tropical and Infectious Diseases Unit at The Royal Liverpool and BROADGREEN Hospital.

For further information or to attend, please contact tom.wingfield@lstmed.ac.uk or bertie.squire@lstmed.ac.uk.
